Tops beat Memphis

The Western Kentucky volleyball team finished the WKU Tournament on Saturday by sweeping Memphis in three sets (25-14, 25-18, 25-15) at E.A. Diddle Arena.
With the win, the Lady Toppers improved to 7-3.

WKU racked up 41 kills, 32 assists, 10 aces, 30 digs, five team blocks and a hitting percentage of .321. The Lady Toppers were led by sophomore Tiffany Elmore, who finished with eight kills and no errors for an overall hitting percentage of .800.
Sophomore Lauren Stuckel led the team in assists with 26, while freshman Sarah Rogers posted nine digs. Elmore also led the team with four blocks.
Senior Abbie Siljendahl was named the tournament MVP after finishing the weekend with 30 kills. She posted nine kills against Tennessee State, 13 against Northern Illinois and eight against Memphis.
Stuckel joined Siljendahl on the All-Tournament team. She finished the weekend with 89 assists, eight kills and four aces. Tennessee State’s Vicmari Prospero, Northern Illinois’ Maddie Hughes and Memphis’ Carolyn Baker and Rebecca Shaffer also earned spots on the All-Tournament team.
WKU resumes play Tuesday night when it travels to Cincinnati for a 6:30 p.m. match.
