The Western Kentucky women’s golf team closed out the Daniel Island Invitational on Tuesday, posting a 8-over par 296 for the third round to finish with a 35-over 899 for the tournament for 12th place in the field in Daniel Island, South Carolina.

For the sixth time this season, senior Sydney Hackett was the top finisher for WKU. She shot a 1-over 73 for the final round, giving her a 3-under score for the tournament to tie for fifth place in the field. It is the third time this season Hackett has finished in the top five of a tournament and 12th time in her career.

“Really proud of Sydney for leading our team with another impressive finish this week,” WKU coach Adam Gary said in a news release. “We’re looking forward to getting some work in this week as we get ready for our next tournament in Augusta, Georgia.”

Leah Edwards had her best round of the tournament on Tuesday, carding a 2-over 74 to give her an 11-over 227 overall score for a tie for 44th place.

Kaylee Dwyer posted another 3-over 75 in the third round, matching her second-round score. Her 14-over 230 was tied for 56th in the field.

Reagan Ramage carded her best score of the tournament in the final round, shooting a 2-over 74 for the day. Her total score of 17-over 233 for the tournament put her in a tie for 66th place.

Grace Frei posted a 7-over 79 for the third round, bringing her total score to 19-over 235 for a 71st-place finish.

The Lady Toppers will be back in action at the Valspar Intercollegiate hosted by Augusta University on March 14-15 in Augusta, Georgia.
