Sophomore pitcher Erica Houge earned Western Kentucky softball’s 14th no-hitter in program history on Sunday in the six-inning, 5-0 win over IU Indy at the WKU Softball Complex.
The Hilltoppers (15-3 overall) racked up five total runs on nine hits as Hogue cruised through the Jaguars’ lineup (3-13 overall) to secure the win. WKU’s last no-hitter was seven years ago to the day when Kennedy Sullivan threw a five-inning no-hitter against Evansville on March 1, 2019.
The bottom of the second inning provided the Hilltoppers four of their five runs. Maci Masters swung on the first pitch of her at-bat and sent the ball over the center-field fence for the first run.
After Anna Mauck singled down the left-field line, Morgan Sharpe doubled to left center to score Mauck for the second.
The third and fourth runs were thanks to Kendle White’s third home run of the season that also scored Sharpe.
The final run of the game came off a bases-loaded walk in the home half of the sixth.
Houge earned the no-hitter and her third win of the weekend after walking only one and fanning six batters. She also did not let a Jaguar past first base. Houge picked up her eighth win in 10 appearances; her total in 2025 was 10 wins in 39 appearances. Across her 18 innings pitched over the weekend, Houge posted a 0.39 ERA and a .036 opponent batting average.
Sharpe went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate. Kendle White was the most productive, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Masters extended her reached-base streak to 11 games.
“I think we keep everything we’re doing and try to build on things we do well and work on things I think we should focus on going in to conference,” WKU coach Amy Tudor said in a news release. “Definitely a good preseason for us. We’re looking forward to starting conference play next week.”
The Hilltoppers move to 15-3 and are a perfect 9-0 at the WKU Softball Complex. The 15-3 start is the best start for WKU since 2022 when the Tops went 16-2 through the first 18 games of the season.
WKU opens its 2026 Conference USA schedule with a three-game home series against Missouri State starting Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
