Wilson leads Lady Bears into District 12 title game

Butler County junior Ava Wilson scored 18 points to lead the host Lady Bears to a 43-40 win against Grayson County in the District 12 Girls’ Basketball Tournament semifinals on Monday.

Carly Cardwell scored nine points, and Ann Marie Skaggs and Brielle Belcher each scored seven points in the win.

Butler County (12-14), the No. 3 seed in the tournament, will host top seed Edmonson County in the District 12 championship on Thursday. The Lady Bears earned a spot in the Region 3 tournament with Monday’s win.

Edmonson County 66, Trinity (Whitesville) 49

Cariann Williams notched a double-double with 21 points and 23 rebounds to boost top seed Edmonson County 66-49 against Trinity (Whitesville) in the District 12 tournament semifinals Monday at Butler County High School.

Shelby Sowders also scored 21 points and added eight rebounds for the Lady Cats. Addison Spainhoward also reached double-digit scoring with 16 points in the win.

Edmonson County will face No. 3 seed Butler County in the District 12 championship on Thursday at Butler County. The Lady Cats earned a spot in the Region 3 tournament with Monday’s win.

ACS 79, Warren East 48

Avery Morris scored 28 points and tallied five assists to pace No. 2 seed Allen County-Scottsville to a 79-48 win against Warren East in the District 15 semifinals Monday at Glasgow High School.

Debora Patrick added a double-double with 15 points and 17 rebounds for the Lady Patriots in the win. Allison Ford finished with 13 points and Kyra Marr had eight points and five rebounds for ACS (21-7), which will face top seed Barren County in the District 15 championship Thursday at Glasgow.

With Monday’s win, ACS earned a spot in the Region 4 tournament.

Tristen Lindsey scored 14 points to pace Warren East (11-16). Brooklyn Neville and Autumn Brooks scored 10 points apiece, and Brelynn Wardlow finished with eight points and eight rebounds for the Lady Raiders.

Barren County 52, Glasgow 32

Shelby Byrd scored 17 points to pace top-seeded Barren County to a 52-32 win over No. 4 seed Glasgow in the District 15 tournament semifinals Monday at Glasgow.

Ann Ashley Atkinson scored 12 points, Addyson McFall also hit double digits with 10 points, Addy Slagle added nine points and Mahalia Burton finished with eight points for the Trojanettes.

Barren County (28-2), which locked up a spot in the Region 4 tournament with the win, will face No. 2 seed Allen County-Scottsville in Thursday’s championship at Glasgow.

Kayla Kirkpatrick scored a game-high 20 points to lead Glasgow (8-22).

Franklin-Simpson 80, TCC 29

Allye Pennington went 6-of-7 from 3-point range to finish with a game-high 26 points for No. 1 seed Franklin-Simpson in Monday’s 80-29 win against No. 4 seed Todd County Central in the District 13 tournament semifinals at Logan County High School.

Tiffany Harrigan added 16 points, Kloie Smith finished with 10 points and McKenzie Taylor chipped in with nine points for the Lady Wildcats in the win.

Franklin-Simpson (20-7), which earned a spot in the Region 4 tournament with the win, will face the winner of Tuesday’s semifinal between No. 2 seed Logan County and No. 3 seed Russellville in Thursday’s District 13 championship at Logan County.

Boys

Logan County 85, TCC 48

Davis Switzer delivered a double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 1 seed and host Logan County to an 85-48 win against No. 4 seed Todd County Central in the District 13 tournament semifinals on Monday.

Jeramiah Washington finished with 11 points, and Joseph Mctire and Maliq Ford tallied nine points each for the Cougars in the win.

Logan County (19-10), which locked up a spot in the Region 4 tournament with Monday’s win, will face the winner of Tuesday’s other semifinal between No. 2 seed Russellville and No. 3 seed Franklin-Simpson in Thursday’s championship at Logan County.
