Lady Tops finish 8th in Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational

The Western Kentucky women’s golf team posted a team score of 10-over par 298 in the third round of the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational hosted by Mercer on Sunday in Eatonton, Georgia on Sunday to finish the tournament with an overall score of 40-over 904 for an eighth-place finish.
The team moved up two spots on the leaderboard on Sunday after the final round, after rising three spots on Saturday after the second round.
Sydney Hackett was WKU’s top finisher, posting an even-par 72 for Sunday, bringing her overall tournament score to 2-over 218 for a seventh-place finish. It is her 15th career top-10 finish at WKU.
Leah Edwards moved up nine spots into a tie for 18th place with a 1-over 73 for the final round. Her overall score was 7-over 223 for the tournament.
Kaylee Dwyer had the best score of the round for WKU, carding a 1-under 71 to bring her score to 17-over 233 for the tournament. She finished in a tie for 51st place, moving up 24 spots from Saturday.
Nina McMurtrey posted a 12-over 84 in the third round, bringing her total score to 22-over 238, tying for 65th place.
Grace Frei shot a 10-over 82 for the third round, bringing her score to 26-over 242 for the tournament, tying for 72nd place.
“Solid day in some tough conditions,” WKU coach Adam Gary said in a news release. “I’m impressed with Sydney’s consistent play throughout the weekend, and happy to see Kaylee and Leah go low. We’re excited to build off today and keep the spring going next week as we head to Daniel Island.”
The Lady Toppers will continue the season at the Daniel Island Invitational hosted by College of Charleston on March 2-3 in Charleston, South Carolina.
