A Glasgow Police Department officer was injured Sunday in a crash with another vehicle, whose driver was arrested on multiple charges.
According to the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, the agency was requested by GPD to investigate the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Simmons Street and Frazier Avenue.
An investigation determined that a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Brittany Runyon, of Glasgow failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a 2017 Ford Explorer police cruiser driven by GPD Officer Jeffery Walker, who was on patrol, BCSO said.
Walker and Runyon were treated and released from T.J. Samson Community Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening.
BCSO said that the investigation determined that Runyon was distracted by her cell phone at the time of the crash and was suspected of being impaired.
Runyon was arrested on charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, disregarding a stop sign, communication device violation and failure to produce insurance card.
