Tops open competition at Jim Green Invitational

Western Kentucky’s track and field teams wrapped up the opening day of competition at the Jim Green Invitational on Friday in Lexington.

On a rain-filled Friday in Lexington, WKU’s Natalie Papes kicked things off with a top-five finish in the women’s pole vault, setting a new personal best. In the men’s javelin, Blake Foster and Joey Raybourne both set a new personal best in the event. Foster earned a sixth-place finish.

In the men’s 200 meters, Kameron Horton took home a top-five mark amidst an hour rain delay, with a mark of 20.89 seconds.

In the men’s long jump, Sterling Weldon claimed a top-five finish to round out the events of the day.

In total, the Hilltoppers managed eight new personal bests when action concluded Saturday. The men’s team got four while the women charted four.

Kennedy Coradini managed a fourth-place mark in the javelin throw with a toss of 31.51 meters.

WKU will continue competition at the Jim Green Invitational on Saturday.
