A woman was found dead Monday by firefighters who were responding to a residential fire.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office said that it received a request around 6:55 p.m. Monday to assist the Richardsville Volunteer Fire Department at the scene of the fire at 8063 Ky. 185.

According to the sheriff’s office, Richardsville firefighters found the woman’s body as they entered the residence.

WCSO detectives were called to investigate, and arson investigators with the Bowling Green Fire Department were also contacted for assistance.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to the Kentucky Office of the Medical Examiner, where an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing.
