WKU Women’s Tennis seniors Sofia Blanco and Rachel Hermanova were named All-Conference USA Second Team Singles, the league announced Tuesday.
“Really happy for Rachel and Sofia making All-CUSA,” WKU Women’s Tennis Head Coach Greg Davis said. “They have been exceptional on the courts since they arrived and have led us through the most successful period in the history of WKU Tennis.”
It is Blanco’s second time being recognized as an All-CUSA Second Team Singles selection, and the 2025 awards mark the first time the Lady Toppers have won multiple postseason CUSA awards since 2018.
Blanco posted a 16-7 record in singles play in the spring of 2025, including a 15-7 mark from the No. 2 singles position and a 1-0 record at the No. 1 position. Blanco’s 16 singles wins are fifth-most in a single season in WKU program history, and she also finished the season with 14 doubles wins, which is tied for eighth-most in a single season in program history.
She was named the CUSA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week twice this spring – on March 5 and April 9 – and she was also a part of the CUSA Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week with Hermanova on March 5.
Blanco finished her WKU first in program history with 108 combined singles and doubles wins, and is the only player in program history to reach 100 career wins. She finished second in program history in career singles wins with 56 and second in career doubles wins with 52. Blanco was also named to the CUSA All-Academic Team earlier this spring, marking the third straight year she was named to the All-Academic Team.
Hermanova posted a 13-7 record in singles play this season, playing all of her matches at the No. 1 position. She went 1-0 against ranked singles opponents, defeating No. 119 Amelia Gorman 6-0, 6-4 in the Lady Toppers’ win over SIUE. She was named the CUSA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week on April 15, and was also part of the CUSA Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week with Blanco on March 5. Hermanova was 14-9 in doubles this spring, which is tied for the eighth-most doubles wins in a season in program history.
Hermanova finished her career as the winningest singles player in program history with 62 singles wins, and was eighth in program history with 30 career doubles wins. Her 92 combined career singles and doubles wins rank second in program history.
The two broke into the ITA Division I Women’s Tennis Doubles Rankings at No. 85 – which marked the first spring ITA doubles ranking in program history – and helped the program to 62 wins over their four-year careers, which marks the most wins in a four-year stretch in program history.
WKU finished the 2025 season with a 15-10 overall record and a 12-6 record at home. The 15 wins are tied for third-most in a single season in program history and the 12 home wins are tied for the most at home in a single season.
