Junior Achievement of South Central Kentucky, in partnership with the Educational Opportunity Centers at Western Kentucky University, will host an inaugural J.A. Girls International event April 29.
Thirty international students from Warren Central High School will join the event designed to empower, mentor and inspire these young women.
The mission of J.A. Girls International is to prepare young women for economic success by providing hands-on experiences and educational opportunities that honor, value, and celebrate the female perspective, experiences and unique development.
The curriculum will provide practical information about preparing for the working world as they prepare to navigate life beyond high school.
Students will learn how to network, reflect on positive daily practices to navigate difficult situations, learn about the college-bound process, discuss the process to enter the workforce and identify additional resources available in the community to assist with these processes.
The J.A. Girls philosophy was specifically designed to complement Junior Achievement’s approach of allowing volunteers from the community to deliver proven curricula that focuses on entrepreneurship, workforce preparation and financial literacy through experiential hands-on programs.
The goal is to increase students’ knowledge and build skills in economic literacy, career preparation and entrepreneurship.
