Bratcher, Escalera pitch East to road win

Warren East senior pitchers Brenden Bratcher and Matthew Escalera combined on a six-hit shutout to lead the visiting Raiders to a 4-0 win against Franklin-Simpson on Thursday.

Bratcher got the start and earned the win after firing four shutout innings, allowing three runs and a walk while striking out five batters. Escalera finished up with three scoreless innings of relief, allowing three hits and no walks while striking out a pair.

Kavien Hinton went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI to lead East at the plate. Escalera was 2-for-2, and Dane Parsley and Will Alexander each drove in a run.

Warren East (4-12) ended an eight-game losing streak with the win. The Raiders were set to visit Green County on Friday.

Braylon Turner and Jaxon Gass each went 2-for-3 for Franklin-Simpson (14-9), which was slated to visit Bowling Green on Friday.

South Warren 11, Logan County 8

Cole Kuzma went 3-for-3 with a home run and drove in two runs to lead visiting South Warren to an 11-8 win against Logan County on Thursday.

Justin Capps was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Casey Green was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Joseph Fentress went 2-for-4, Brandon Perkins and Camden Page each tallied a double and an RBI, and John Mosley added an RBI for the Spartans.

Ty Croghan earned the win in relief, allowing two runs off five hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings.

South Warren (16-3) was scheduled to visit University Heights on Friday.

Logan County (14-6) was slated to face Boyd County in the Kentucky 2A Championships state tournament Friday in Owensboro.

Barren County 7, Campbellsville 0

Skylar Potter fired six shutout innings to earn the win as host Barren County blanked Campbellsville 7-0 on Thursday.

Potter allowed no runs off seven hits and no walks while striking out five. Sutton Hyde finished up with a scoreless inning of relief.

Sutton Hyde also had a solo home run at the plate. Axel Dysholm notched a double and two RBIs, and Jackson Reece also drove in two runs for the Trojans.

Barren County (13-7) was set to host Central Hardin on Friday.

Softball

South Warren 18, Warren Central 0

Layla Ogden homered twice and as part of a 3-for-3 day at the plate and drove in three runs as host South Warren rolled to an 18-0 win in three innings against District 14 foe Warren Central on Thursday.

Spartans starting pitcher Courtney Norwood fired three perfect innings for the win, striking out six.

Hadley Borders was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, McLaine Hudson went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, Parker Willoughby was 2-for-2 with a double, Kinleigh Russell went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs, Kaylee Wilson drove in two runs and stole two bases, and Keegan Pruitt added an RBI for the No. 1-ranked Spartans.

South Warren (17-2, 3-0 District 14) plays twice Saturday at Great Crossing, facing Scott County and then the host team.

Warren Central (3-11, 0-3 District 14) was set to visit Fort Knox on Friday.

Girls’ lacrosse

Owensboro 10, Greenwood 7

Visiting Greenwood dropped a 10-7 decision to Owensboro on Thursday.

Madison Hershberg scored three goals and added an assist for the Lady Gators in the loss. Janisha Gurung scored two goals, Addison Gilpin and Sarah Rowland notched one goal apiece, and Cheyanne Trimble and Neveah Woods each added an assist.

Greenwood (1-8) was scheduled to visit Central Hardin on Friday.
