Greenwood sweeps City-County meet

Greenwood’s boys’ and girls’ track and field squads swept the Bowling Green/Warren County City-County meet Tuesday at Warren East.

The Lady Gators tallied 98 points to top Bowling Green (94), South Warren (85), Warren East (69) and Warren Central (25).

Greenwood’s boys finished with 136 points, ahead of Warren East (77), Warren Central (60), Bowling Green (58) and South Warren (40).

Lady Gators freshman Alysa Jones tallied first-place finishes in the long jump (15 feet, 0.75 inches) and 200-meter dash (24.46 seconds), while teammate Sauyer Shirley won the girls’ 3,200 (12:44.00). The Lady Gators’ Lily Clark, Shirley, Linley Landon and Claire Ellington combined to win the 3,200 relay (10:22.15), and Anna Emedi, Ellington, Maggie Byers and Clark teamed up to take first in the 1,600 relay (4:29.41). Kayleigh Richards added wins in the shot put adapted (12-07) and discus throw adapted (30-02).

Warren Central got wins from TyVeon Taylor in the 1,600 (4:54.02) and Tristan Alex Sanchez in the long jump (20-09.25).

Bowling Green’s Mia Greenwell won both the 100 hurdles (19.06) and 300 hurdles (51.40), and Stella Miner added a first-place finish in the 400 (1:04.00) for the Lady Purples. BG’s Nahla Kaufkins, Keilynn Wardlow, Shayna Pratt and Faith Evans combined to win the 400 relay (53.39), while Evans, Jada Whitlow, Greenwell and Wardlow teamed up to win the 800 relay (1:51.23).

South Warren’s girls got individual wins from Jasmine Abacan in the 800 (2:35.31), Molly Robertson in the 1,600 (5:57.01) and Karis Carter in the pole vault (9-06).

Warren East picked up firsts from Brelynn Wardlow in the high jump (5-04), Madison Lawson in the triple jump (33-02), and two wins by Delilah Martter in the discus (117-11) and shot put (29-01).

Warren Central’s KaTavia Greene claimed the Lady Dragons’ lone individual win in the 100 (13.71).

In the boys’ meet, Greenwood’s Caleb Williams won both the 200 (23.84) and 400 (51.31). The Gators also got individual wins from Justin Doran in the 800 (2:00.33), Andrew Champion in the 3,200 (10:14.76), Romello Meade in the 110 hurdles (16.73), Darrion Wells in the 300 hurdles (43.72), Timmy Sohn in the pole vault (11-06) and Lachin Bakhadir in the discus (104-05). Isaiah Summers tied for first in the high jump (6-04). Champion, Hunter Cleary, Garrett Hatcher and Doran teamed up to win the 3,200 relay (8:44.43), and Doran, Keegan Dinning, Wells and Williams combined to take first in the 1,600 relay (3:38.02).

Runner-up Warren East got wins from Brayden Lightfoot in the high jump (6-04, tied for first) and Damontre Barnett in the shot put (44-10). Lightfoot, Jacob Dockery, Diego Monge and Dane Parsley teamed up to win the 400 relay (44.66), and the Raiders’ Sincere Smith, Dockery, Lightfoot and Parsley won the 800 relay (1:31.84).

Bowling Green picked up wins from Zyrek Burton in the 100 (11.49) and Aaron Carver in the triple jump (42-04).

Scottie Games

Barren County’s Riley Wilson claimed individual wins in both girls’ discus (101-01) and shot put (31-08) in Tuesday’s Scottie Games hosted by Glasgow.

Also claiming individual wins for the Trojanettes were Layla Harris in the 100 (13.65), Adeline Coleman in 800 (2:40.54), Molly Beckham in the 1,600 (5:47.69) and Audrey Neutzman in the 3,200 (13:23.08). Barren County’s also took first in the girls’ 1,600 relay (5:01.47) and 3,200 relay (11:17.14).

Host Glasgow got wins from Danica Stephens in the 200 (28.26), Kyleigh Elmore in the 400 (1:09.01), A’Zariah Miller in the 300 hurdles (53.28), Cynthia Austin in the triple (31-08). The Lady Scotties also won the 400 relay (53.20) and 800 relay (1:52.92).

Allen County-Scottsville’s Aubrie Naiser won the girls’ 100 hurdles (19.32).

In the boys’ meet, Barren County got individual wins from Michael Owens in the 400 (56.63), Conner Thomas in the triple jump (34-07.75) and Greyson Billingsley in the discus (141-09). The Trojans also took first in both the 1,600 relay (4:00.00) and 3,200 relay (9:30.30).

Glasgow got firsts from Wyatt Morgan in the 3,200 (13:19.96), Jayden Estes in the 300 hurdles (45.04) and Jerrick Martin in the long jump (21-09). The Scotties also won the 800 relay (1:37.52).

Allen County-Scottsville got wins from Tyler Marsh in the 1,600 (4:57.95) and Eddie Hickey in the 110 hurdles (17.42).

Grayson County All-Comers

Edmonson County’s boys scored 153 points to win the seven-team Grayson County All-Comers meet Tuesday.

Butler County was third with 105 points and Foundation Christian Academy was sixth with four points.

Edmonson finished second in the girls’ meet with 217 points, with Butler County third (172) and FCA seventh (4).

Edmonson got individual boys’ wins from Noah Justis in the 200 (25.06), Blake Talley in the pole vault (9-06), Tristen Muse in the discus (111-01) and Kaleb Lindsey in the shot put (38-08.50). The Wildcats’ Jack Browning, Zander Garrett, Dayton Chidester and Aidan Meredith won the 3,200 relay (9:21.00), and Blake Head, Braxtin Lindsey, Tyler Brooks and Owen Ruth teamed up to win the 800 relay (1:41.00).

Butler County’s boys’ got wins from Colton Hampton in the 100 (11.35), Ryder Harbaugh in the 400 (53.00), Kane Justis in the 110 hurdles (17.90), Talyn Beasley in the 300 hurdles (45.00), Clay Steff in the long jump (18-10) and Cainan Vincent in the triple jump (33-11).

Edmonson’s girls got wins from Mollie Johnson in the 400 (3:04.00) and Cariann Williams in the high jump (4-08), with the Lady Cats’ Johnson, Harper Ferguson, Abigail Chidester and Williams teaming up to win the 3,200 relay (12:44.00).

Butler County’s Bailey Moore claimed wins in both the long jump (15-06) and triple jump (30-08). The Lady Bears also got wins from Emma Winchel in the 800 (3:04.00) and Bella Easley in the discus (88-02).

Baseball

Greenwood 13, Glasgow 0

Chaze Huff went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and five RBIs to lead visiting Greenwood to a 13-0 win in five innings against Glasgow on Wednesday.

Andrew Jolly was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Easton Talley went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Jackson Lee was 2-for-2 and scored four runs, Canon Jaggers notched a double and three RBIs, and Zachary Davis and Jake Flickinger each added an RBI.

Davis pitched all five innings for the win, allowing no runs off one hit and one walk while striking out five batters.

Greenwood (17-4) visits Allen County-Scottsville on Saturday.

Glasgow (7-13) hosts Taylor County on Friday.

Softball

Trinity (Whitesville) 7, Edmonson County 6

Host Edmonson County dropped a 7-6 decision to District 12 rival Trinity (Whitesville) on Wednesday.

Shelby Sowders was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Lillie Webb was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Emma Davis went 2-for-3, Abigal Hogg was 2-for-4 with a double, Julie Norris drove in two runs and Rayleigh Moon added an RBI for the Lady Cats in the loss.

Edmonson County (9-10 overall, 2-1 District 12) was set to host district foe Grayson County on Thursday.
