Bowling Green junior Landon Gilbert provided a boost to the Purples’ lineup in a key two-game series against District 14 rival South Warren.

Gilbert, BG’s third baseman, drove in a run in the Purples’ 8-5 loss at South Warren on Monday.

In the rematch Tuesday at BG’s Harold J. Stahl Field, Gilbert did even more with a 3-for-4 day at the plate. He also drove in the game-tying run in the Purples’ 5-4 win.

“I just try to keep everything consistent, whether it’s tee work or coach-pitch, I just try to take everything up the middle and keep my swing as simple and consistent as I can.”

Bowling Green is back in action Friday at home against Franklin-Simpson.
