Gators complete series sweep with 15-0 win against Dragons

Greenwood’s baseball team completed the regular season series sweep with a 15-0 win in three innings against Warren Central on Tuesday.
Gators sophomore starting pitcher Mason Cosby earned the win after firing three no-hit innings, allowing just two walks while striking out seven batters.
Nathan Howard tallied a double and three RBIs to pace Greenwood’s offense. Canon Jaggers had a triple and an RBI, Isaiah Slaughter, Whitt Glosick, Kioshi Une and Andrew Jolly each notched an RBI, and Jackson Lee went 3-for-3 on stolen-base attempts.
Greenwood (16-4 overall, 2-0 District 14) was slated to visit Glasgow on Wednesday.
Warren Central (0-5, 0-2 District 14) hosts Butler County on Friday.
Franklin-Simpson 13, Westmoreland 3
Jaxon Gass went 2-for-4 with a home run and drove in four runs to lead visiting Franklin-Simpson to a 13-3 win against Westmoreland (Tennessee) on Tuesday.
Brady Delk started and pitched five scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and four walks while striking out five. Delk helped himself at the plate with a 2-for-4 night with a triple and three RBIs. Hendrik Blanckenberg was 2-for-2 with a double, Braylon Turner went 2-for-3 with a double, Layne Alford was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI, Liam Heinze tallied three RBIs, and Carson Kelley added an RBI in the win.
Franklin-Simpson (14-8) hosts Warren East on Thursday.
Softball
Warren East 7, Butler County 3
Kynleigh Barrick went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to boost visiting Warren East to a 7-3 win against Butler County on Tuesday.
Jordan Brooks was 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, Addison Lee went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Kenzie Upton was 2-for-4 with a double, Brooklyn Neville and Tristen Lindsey each provided an RBI and Lydia Jones added a double for the Lady Raiders.
Autumn Brooks picked up the complete-game win after allowing three runs (one earned) off six hits and no walks while striking out six.
Warren East (14-4) faces Nelson County in the Kentucky 2A State Softball Championships on Friday at Jack C. Fisher Park in Owensboro.
Taylor Smith was 3-for-3 with an RBI, Emmalin Mode went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, Destin Wester tallied an RBI and Carley Cardwell had a double for the Lady Bears in the loss.
Butler County (6-15) is at Breckinridge County on Thursday.
ACS 10, Westmoreland 5
Addison Law notched a double and three RBIs to boost host Allen County-Scottsville to a 10-5 win against Westmoreland (Tennessee) on Tuesday.
Addison Ausbrooks and Shiloh Knievel drove in two runs each, Jacie Rice stole a pair of bases and drove in a run, and Maddie Gray also had an RBI for the Lady Patriots.
Ausbrooks pitched all seven innings for the win, allowing five runs (two earned) while striking out four.
ACS (19-2) hosts District 15 Barren County on April 29.
Franklin-Simpson 19, Russellville 6
Kloie Smith went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double and five RBIs to lead host Franklin-Simpson to a 19-6 win in five innings against District 13 rival Russellville on Tuesday.
Smith also scored three runs and stole two bases for the Lady Wildcats. Allie Utley was 3-for-4 with a triple, a double, four RBIs, three runs scored and three stolen bases. Kyleigh Scott went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Jasmine Grover was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, Lilly Ferguson was 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs, and Ava Holland, Kaitlyn Woodall and Addison Marr each chipped in with an RBI.
Hester Blanckenberg earned the win in relief after pitching 3 2/3 spotless innings, allowing no hits or walks while striking out two.
Franklin-Simpson (8-9, 2-1 District 13) was slated to visit district foe Todd County Central on Wednesday.
Russellville (7-10, 2-2 District 13) hosts Hopkins County Central on Thursday.
Logan County 6, TCC 2
Addison Cartas struck out 15 batters over seven innings for a complete-game win as host Logan County topped District 13 rival Todd County Central 6-2 on Tuesday.
Cartas allowed two runs off four hits and a walk to earn the victory.
Madelyn Burgess was 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs and Macie Clinard drove in two runs for the Lady Cougars.
Logan County (6-11, 2-2 District 13) hosts district foe Russellville on April 29.
Girls’ lacrosse
South Warren 12, Greenwood 6
Visiting South Warren claimed a 12-6 win against Greenwood on Tuesday.
Sarah Rowland tallied three goals and two assists for the host Lady Gators in the loss. Madison Hershberg added two goals, Janisha Gurung scored a goal and Cheyanne Trimble notched an assist.
Greenwood (1-7) visits Owensboro on Thursday.
South Warren (7-6) takes on Castle (Indiana) and Gibson Southern (Indiana) on Saturday at Owensboro.
