Coradini pitches Spartans to district win against Purples

South Warren senior pitcher Mikey Coradini delivered a strong start to earn the win in the Spartans’ 8-5 home baseball victory against District 14 rival Bowling Green on Monday.

Coradini pitched 6 1/3 innings to pick up the win, allowing three runs (one earned) off two hits and six walks while striking out eight batters.

Grey Pearson was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Ty Croghan tallied two RBIs, Griffin Rardin stole three bases and notched an RBI, and Tucker Sears also drove in a run for the Spartans.

Drew Isenberg went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Luke Idlett had a double and an RBI, Landon Gilbert drove in a run and Andrew Jones stole three bases for the Purples.

South Warren (15-2 overall, 1-0 District 14) was slated to visit Bowling Green (10-7, 0-1 District 14) in a rematch Tuesday.

Greenwood 12, Warren Central 0

Sam Holder went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to pace visiting Greenwood to a 12-0 win in five innings against District 14 foe Warren Central on Monday.

Gators starting pitcher Chaze Huff fired five scoreless innings for the complete-game win, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out six.

Jackson Lee stole three bases and drove in a run, Zachary Davis had one RBI and two stolen bases, and Easton Talley and Huff added an RBI apiece. Greenwood was 11-for-11 on stolen-base attempts.

Warren Central (0-4, 0-1 District 14) was set to visit Greenwood (15-4, 1-0 District 14) in a rematch Tuesday.

Butler County 11, Trinity (Whitesville) 3

Brycen Mode went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and two RBIs to boost host Butler County to an 11-3 win against District 12 foe Trinity (Whitesville) on Monday.

Justin Castlen tallied two RBIs and three stolen bases, Garrett Phelps drove in two runs, and Duncan Tyree and Eli Oaks added an RBI each for the Bears.

Phelps earned a complete-game win, allowing three runs (two earned) off five hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out 10.

Butler County (9-7, 1-1 District 12) was slated to visit Trinity (Whitesville) in a rematch Tuesday.

Softball

Warren East 6, Franklin-Simpson 1

Tristen Lindsey pitched seven strong innings to lead visiting Warren East to a 6-1 win against Franklin-Simpson on Monday.

Lindsey picked up the complete-game win after allowing just one run off four hits and a walk while striking out five. At the plate, Lindsey drove in a run for the Lady Raiders.

Autumn Brooks added a 3-for-4 day with a double, Brooklynn Neville was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Kenzie Upton went 2-for-4 with an RB, and Lydia Jones added an RBI.

Warren East (13-4) was scheduled to visit Butler County on Tuesday.

Franklin-Simpson (7-9) was slated to host District 13 rival Russellville on Tuesday.

Boys’ volleyball

Trinity (Whitesville) 3, ACS 1

Visiting Allen County-Scottsville dropped a 3-1 (25-16, 30-28, 24-26, 25-12) decision to Trinity (Whitesville) on Monday.

Ayden Johnston led the Patriots with six kills and seven digs. Weston Adams added five kills and four blocks, Jacob Bandy had seven assists, Brody Holland tallied eight digs and three aces, Izaiah Johns had seven assists, and Kunj Patel had six digs and two aces.

ACS (5-8) was slated to face Hart County and host South Warren in a tri-match Tuesday.
