A 16-year-old who was injured in a shooting incident last week at Skyline Village was found to have shot himself, according to police.

The Bowling Green Police Department said Tuesday in a post on its Facebook page that the teenager, who was treated at an area hospital and released hours after the incident, had shot himself, though he did not admit as much.

Schools in the area of the incident on Loop Drive went into lockout as a safety precaution on the morning of April 16.

BGPD said that because of the circumstances surrounding the incident, the juvenile has been charged with tampering with physical evidence, possession of a handgun by a minor and falsely reporting an incident.
