LOUISVILLE – John Kerry Culbreth, age 69, of Louisville, KY, departed this life on April 8, 2025, at his residence. A native of Edmonson County, he was born on April 5, 1956, to Shirley Wells Culbreth, who survives, and the late John Thomas Culbreth of Sweeden, KY. Kerry was saved as a young boy on August 6, 1967, at Bee Springs Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized the same day at Rhodes Creek.
He leaves to honor his memory his beloved wife of 35 years, Julia, and his children: Gibson Lee, Haley Collins, and Teresa Kate. A lifelong and accomplished musician, Kerry found his greatest joy in music. He also had a passion for cooking – especially grilling amazing barbecue – and loved dining at good restaurants. Some of his most cherished memories were traveling with his family, fishing in the country, visiting with loved ones, and catching up with friends. He loved his little dogs, Leo and Darla and he spent many happy hours holding them in his favorite recliner.
He was the proud owner of Warm Hearth Chimney Sweeps and took great pride in providing excellent service to his customers. In addition to his wife, children, and mother, Kerry is survived by his siblings: Craig Culbreth (Laura), Teresa Houchin, and Melissa Fulkerson (Bobby).
He is also lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his niece, Erin Turner York; and a brother-in-law, Ronnie Houchin. In accordance with his wishes, Kerry was cremated.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on June 15, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Culbreth Farm, 422 Kyrock Road, Sweeden, KY 42285. All are welcome to bring photographs and share memories on this special day.
