Stegman’s win highlights Tops’ final day at Little Rock Invite

Western Kentucky’s track and field teams wrapped up action at the Little Rock Invitational on Saturday in Little Rock, Arkansas.

In total, WKU saw seven new personal bests with four coming from the women’s team. In addition to the PRs, the Hilltoppers managed to finish in the top five in their respective events on 11 occasions.

Action opened up on Saturday with WKU junior Luke Stegman claiming the victory in the men’s discus with a 51.69-meter throw. LeAndre Bolen followed suit as he took home third in the event.

Sterling Weldon led the way for the sprinters as he charted a PR in the 100-meter dash, clocking at 10.57 seconds for a third-place finish. In the 400-meter dash, Brunel Desinor finished in the top five with a time of 47.58.

Gianna Huerta headlined action for the women as she managed to set a personal best in both events that she competed in on Saturday. Her performance was highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles.

Sofia Witt led the Hilltoppers in the 800-meter run as she managed a top-15 finish and a new PR with a mark of 2:20. Morgan Moore also had a personal best finish in the event, checking in at 2:34.

Henry Fisher notched a PR in the 400-meter run with a time of 49.89, which was good for 19th place in the event.

WKU will take a week off before competing at the Jim Freeman Invitational, April 25-29 in Louisville.
