Lady Tops trio earns All-Academic honors

Three Western Kentucky women’s golfers were honored on the Conference USA All-Academic teams on Thursday.
Catie Craig earned first-team honors, while Averi Cline and Sydney Hackett each earned second-team recognition. WKU was the only school in the league with three golfers honored.
First-team honors are given to the five women’s golfers with the highest GPAs, while the second team is then voted upon from all remaining eligible golfers with a 3.75 GPA or higher.
Craig, a native of Sautee Nacoochee, Georgia, holds a 4.0 GPA in agriculture (soil agronomy and horticulture). It is the third time Craig has earned first-team academic honors in her career. Through 23 rounds so far this season, Craig has a 73.00 scoring average with five top-10 finishes in eight events. She won the Cardinal Cup in the fall and recently competed in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Craig has qualified for NCAA Regionals each of the past two seasons.
Cline, a native of Suwanee, Georgia, holds a 3.94 GPA in psychology. It is the second time Cline is being honored on the second team in her career. Through 29 rounds so far this season, she has a 74.86 scoring average with five top-25 finishes in her 10 events. Her best finish of the season was a tie for second at the Lady Paladin Invitational.
Hackett, a native of Ashburn, Virginia, holds a 3.92 GPA in finance. Hackett earns the award for the third time in her career. Through 29 rounds this season, she has a 73.07 scoring average with five top-5 finishes in 10 events. She has finished in the top 10 in all five events this spring, including a second-, two thirds- and a fourth-place finish.
Next week, the Lady Tops head to the World Golf Resort in St. Augustine, Florida, for the Conference USA Championships (April 14-16).
