Howard pitches Gators to win in Florida

Greenwood starting pitcher Nathan Howard delivered seven strong innings to help the Gators beat in-state rival Frederick Douglass 3-1 in a baseball matchup Tuesday in Panama City Beach, Florida.
Howard earned the complete-game win after allowing just one run off four hits and a walk while striking out four batters.
Henry Justice, Andrew Jolly and Zach Davis each tallied an RBI for Greenwood (9-1).
The Gators were set to take on Murray on Wednesday in Panama City Beach.
Bowling Green 7, Wayne County 2
Grayson Newman went 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and three RBIs to boost host Bowling Green to a 7-2 win against Wayne County on Tuesday.
Landon Gilbert was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Drew Isenberg was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, a pair of stolen bases and an RBI for the Purples.
Grayson Rodgers started and pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win for Bowling Green (8-3), which is on the road Thursday to face host Farragut in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Countryside 5, Warren East 2
Warren East dropped a 5-2 decision to host Countryside on Tuesday in Clearwater, Florida.
The Raiders got an RBI triple from Dane Parsley and Brenden Bratcher also drove in a run.
On Wednesday morning, East fell 5-2 to host IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
The Raiders are back in action Thursday against East Lake (Florida).
Barren County 6, Paul Laurence Dunbar 4
JP Hyde drove in a pair of runs to help Barren County claim a 6-4 win against in-state foe Paul Laurence Dunbar on Tuesday in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Gavin Coffey and Jackson Reece added an RBI each for the Trojans.
Skylar Potter started and pitched five innings for the win, allowing two runs of four hits and a walk while striking out five.
Barren County (6-6) was set to face Lexington Catholic on Wednesday in Tampa, Florida.
Softball
South Warren 2, Pace 0
Courtney Norwood fired a two-hit shutout to lift visiting South Warren to a 2-0 win against Pace, Florida, on Tuesday in Milton, Florida.
Norwood earned the complete-game win after allowing just two hits and a pair of walks while fanning five over seven innings.
McLaine Hudson provided all the offense for the Spartans with a pair of solo home runs in a 2-for-2 day at the plate.
South Warren (12-2) continued its road trip with a scheduled Wednesday matchup against Niceville, Florida.
ACS 14, Western Hills 4
Allen County-Scottsville rolled to a pair of wins Tuesday, beating Western Hills 14-4 in five innings and topping Washington County 16-0 in three innings in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
Against Western Hills, Maddie Gray was 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs. Payton Hopkins was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs, Jacie Rice was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, Aubrey Williams was 2-for-3 with a double, Kensley Byrn went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Addison Law tallied a double and two RBIs, Ally Anderson had an RBI double and Brooklyn Oliver also drove in a run.
Oliver earned the win in relief, tossing 3 2/3 scoreless innings with five strikeouts.
Addison Ausbrooks hit a grand slam to spark ACS against Washington County. Finley Rice was 2-for-2, Jacie Rice added a double and two RBIs, Kinlee Sikes and McKenna Law tallied two RBIs each, and Kyndell Clark and Anderson chipped in with an RBI apiece.
Ausbrooks started and got the win after pitching a scoreless inning.
ACS (11-2) was slated to face Harlan County on Wednesday in Pigeon Forge.
Edmonson County 5, Hart County 2
Edmonson County played twice on Tuesday, dropping a 6-5 decision in eight innings and beating Hart County 5-2 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Emma Price went 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Lady Cats against West Jessamine. Abigail Hogg was also 2-for-4, and Julie Norris added a double and two RBIs.
Hogg went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Price was 2-for-3 with a triple against Hart County. Norris also went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Emma Davis also had a 2-for-3 performance. Hayley Sanders, Lillie Webb and Jolee Vincent added one RBI each in the win.
Norris pitched all seven innings for the win, allowing two unearned runs off eight hits and no walks while striking out 11.
Edmonson County (6-5) takes on Union County on Thursday in Fort Walton Beach.
