BOWLING GREEN – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Romey Lance Beliles, a beloved son, loving brother, devoted friend and extraordinary human being, who left us on April 5, 2025, at the age of 53. Romey was born on November 12, 1971, in Owensboro, Ky., to the proud parents of Brenda and Bob Hodges and Herman and Joy Beliles.

Romey’s double cousin, Shane Beliles, was like a brother to Romey. There was a very special bond between the two. The love they shared was unbreakable. His siblings include Dana Marshall Smith, Robbie Hodges, Lori Duke and Cody Weakley. As a proud graduate of Western Kentucky University, Romey carried his alma mater in his heart.

Along with his many achievements, he became proficient in welding which contributed to the creation of a magnificent sculpture that graces the WKU campus, a work of art he was exceptionally proud of.

This sculpture stands not only as a testament to his creativity and craftsmanship but also as a lasting symbol of his commitment to the university community. Romey‘s pride in this unique piece reflected his passion for art and his desire to leave a meaningful legacy. Romey continued his life experiences as a Master Barber at Cowles barber shop.

He had a remarkable ability to listen, connect, and uplift those around him, making everyone feel valued. Private services will be held for family only.
