Western Kentucky softball’s Erica Houge was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week on Monday for the first time this season.

Houge led the Hilltoppers to a 2-1 series finish over Kennesaw State with a 0.00 ERA through 7.2 innings pitched. Across her three total appearances, the freshman only gave up four hits and one walk while registering five strikeouts. She also pitched a perfect inning against Lipscomb on Tuesday, including one strikeout.

With her save on Saturday, Houge widened her conference lead in saves to four.

WKU continues its conference campaign with a road trip to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to take on Middle Tennessee. First pitch is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. CT.
