Give Hegseth a break

Don’t blame Pete.

The left-wing media is demanding Pete Hegseth’s ouster for texting attack details on Yemen over an insecure line. Is this fair? His inexperience was understood when Trump tapped him for Secretary of Defense.

Although he had never successfully organized anything more complex than a good kegger, he had demonstrated on Fox News that he could faithfully read what someone had written for him.

When the President called on him, this patriot answered the call and stepped up. When his tiny little texting mistake was revealed, his years of training enabled him to respond reflexively with an attack on the character and motives of the journalist who made it public.

Unlike the time during a Flag Day event in 2015 when Pete threw an axe that injured a drummer from the United States Military Academy, no blood was drawn in his response. What more is reasonable to expect from a novice in charge of the world’s mightiest military? How about showing some empathy for Pete?
