Lady Toppers drop 4-1 decision at Liberty

Western Kentucky’s women’s tennis team lost 4-1 to Liberty on Saturday at the Liberty Tennis Complex in Lynchburg, Virginia.
The Lady Toppers fall to 13-8 overall and 2-2 against Conference USA opponents with the loss to the Lady Flames (10-11 overall, 4-1 CUSA). The Lady Toppers fall to 0-3 all-time against Liberty with the loss.
WKU’s Sofia Blanco improved to 14-5 in singles this season with her win against Liberty. She holds a 13-5 record at the No. 2 position. Blanco now has 54 career singles wins, which ranks second in program history. Blanco now has 104 combined career singles and doubles wins, which is a program record.
“I thought we had a very good effort in singles,” WKU coach Greg Davis said in a news release. “Sofia had a quality win at No. 2. We were a bit overwhelmed in doubles, but I have confidence in the team and we are looking forward to our final three matches of the season.”
The Lady Toppers will travel to Middle Tennessee for a 4 p.m. CT match on Tuesday in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
