Law enforcement seized about 116 pounds of marijuana Tuesday from three Bowling Green vape/tobacco retailers.

According to the Bowling Green/Warren County Drug Task Force, the agency began investigating the businesses after receiving several complaints, some from parents and others who reported sales to minors as young as 13 years of age.

Task force detectives began making purchases from the stores about two months ago, with products being tested by the Kentucky State Police Laboratory to confirm they were marijuana and then sent to a specialized laboratory to determined the THC content, the task force said.

Products that underwent testing showed between 18.1 percent and 29.8 percent THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana, according to the drug task force.

State regulations limit the THC content of products sold at vape/tobacco shops to 0.3 percent.

Drug task force agents seized about 60 pounds of marijuana and 15,600 rolled blunts from Smoke and Vape, 651 U.S. 31-W By-Pass, about 54 pounds of marijuana and 5,400 blunts from Smoke and Vape Superstore, 2714 Scottsville Road and about two pounds of marijuana and a handgun from Smoke Department, 1337 U.S. 31-W By-Pass, according to a news release.

Items seized Tuesday will be tested for THC content, and the results of the investigation will be turned over to the Warren County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office for presentation to a grand jury, the task force said.
