RUSSELLVILLE – Harrold Troy Johnson, age 81, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday morning, March 30, 2025, following a brief illness. Troy was born on September 23, 1943, in Butler County, Kentucky to Theron H. and Marie Mastin Johnson.
He graduated from Chandlers High School in Logan County in 1961 and from Western Kentucky University in 1965 where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting. After graduating, Troy worked as a cost accountant for McDonald Products Corporation for two years and then as the plant accountant for American Chain & Cable Co. for two years before beginning a 40-year career with the Internal Revenue Service where he served as a Field Revenue Agent, a Revenue Agent Group Manager, and a training instructor for new agents.
Troy also taught accounting part-time for WKU as well as continuing education courses for Certified Public Accountants through the University of Kentucky. Troy was an avid sports fan, a lover of golf, and a loyal supporter of WKU. He also loved to travel and visited all 50 states, except for one, as well as several countries in Europe and Asia. He loved his Lord and was saved at the early age of seven. He served as a Sunday school teacher and a Deacon at both Liberty Baptist and Rich Pond Baptist churches and was also the music leader at Liberty Baptist.
