An Allen County-Scottsville High School teacher was arrested Tuesday after a student was allegedly shown nude pictures.

Kerston Raines, 25, of Franklin, was arrested by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office on a misdemeanor charge of distribution of obscene matter to minors.

Raines was released Tuesday from Allen County Detention Center after posting a $10,000 bond secured with 10% cash, and she was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Allen District Court.

According to an arrest citation, deputies conducting an investigation at the school were informed that Raines had shown nude pictures to a student.

The student reportedly told deputies that Raines had shown her text messages between her and a male teacher that featured sexually explicit pictures of the two.

Raines agreed to speak with deputies, saying that she and the male teacher had sent pictures of “each other’s nude private areas” to one another, the arrest citation said.

“Raines did state that a student could have seen these pictures on her laptop that is synced to her phone while at school,” the citation said. “She stated that she does leave her laptop open and students have the opportunity to look at her computer and may have seen messages that were between her and this male teacher.”

According to the citation, Raines also told deputies that students get access to her phone when selecting what music to listen to in class and, in doing so, may have accessed these pictures.

“Raines did state that she never showed any student these pictures intentionally,” the citation said.
