Ogden fires no-hitter as Spartans win twice

South Warren’s softball team claimed a pair of wins Saturday, topping Frederick Douglass 10-0 in six innings before downing host Pulaski County 22-2 in five innings.
South Warren sophomore Layla Ogden pitched a no-hitter against Frederick Douglass, allowing just a pair of walks while striking out eight batters to earn the win.
McLaine Hudson went 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple and two RBIs to pace the Spartans. Parker Willoughby was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Ogden drove in two runs, and Jenna Lindsey, Kaylee Wilson, Hayden Holloway and Hadley Borders each notched an RBI.
Lindsey homered twice and drove in five runs as part of a 3-for-4 effort against Pulaski. Ogden was 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and four RBIs, Willoughby was 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs, Courtney Norwood went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Holloway was 2-for-3 with a double, Kinleigh Russell homered and drove in four runs, Madison Stuart went 2-for-2 and scored twice, Hudson was 2-for-5 with a home run and an RBI, and Anna Harl added an RBI.
Norwood started in the circle and earned the win after tossing three scoreless innings. She struck out three.
South Warren (7-1) is at Logan County on Monday.
Warren East 15, Edmonson County 5
Warren East claimed a pair of wins on Saturday, beating Edmonson County 15-5 in six innings at Franklin-Simpson and downing Allen County-Scottsville 11-3.
Brooklynn Neville went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and Kynleigh Barrick was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs to lead the Lady Raiders against Edmonson. Tristen Lindsey was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Jordan Brooks went 2-for-4, Addison Lee tallied a double and four RBIs, and Kenzie Upton and Lydia Jones each added an RBI.
Autumn Brooks started and pitched three perfect innings to earn the win, striking out three.
Julie Norris went 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs to lead Edmonson.
Upton went 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs against ACS. Lee was 2-for0-5 with two RBIS, Lindsey was 2-for-4, Autumn Brooks was 2-for-5 with a double, Kennedy Lawson drove in two runs, and Jordan Brooks and Lydia Jones each tallied an RBI.
Autumn Brooks pitched all seven innings for the win.
Payton Hopkins and Shiloh Knievel each homered and tallied an RBI, and Maddie Gray also drove in a run for ACS.
The Lady Patriots claimed a 13-3 win in six innings against Franklin-Simpson. Jacie Rice went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs, Kensley Byrn was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Addison Law was 2-for-4, Hopkins homered and drove in two runs, Knievel tallied a double and two RBIs, Addison Ausbrooks was 2-for-2 with an RBI, Brooklyn Oliver notched two RBIs and Gray also had an RBI in the win.
Oliver pitched all six innings for the win, striking out 10.
Lilly Ferguson homered and drove in two runs and Kloie Smith added a solo home run for Franklin.
Warren East (7-1) hosts Franklin-Simpson (5-4) on Monday.
Edmonson County (3-4) is at Glasgow on Monday.
ACS (7-1) is at Russellville on Monday.
Baseball
Greenwood 12, University Heights 2
Homestanding Greenwood swept a doubleheader against University Heights, winning 4-2 and 12-2 in five innings on Saturday.
In the first game, Henry Justice homered and drove in two runs. Jackson Lee pitched four perfect innings of relief to earn the win, striking out four.
The Gators’ Andrew Jolly went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs in the nightcap. Easton Talley was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, Chaze Huff went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs, and Zachary Davis added an RBI.
Nathan Howard pitched all five innings for the win, striking out eight.
Greenwood (7-1) is at Warren East on Tuesday.
Logan County 7, Franklin-Simpson 3
Host Logan County won a pair of Class 2A Sectional games on Saturday, downing Hart County 10-0 in five innings and topping Franklin-Simpson 7-3.
Drew McLellan pitched five shutout innings to earn the win against Hart, striking out five. Brady Hinton was 3-for-3, Tripp Wadlington went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Drew McLellan doubled and drove in three runs, TySean Thomeczek tallied a double and two RBIs, Mason Hancock had a double and an RBI, and Eric Walker also added a double and an RBI.
Hinton also went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double and two RBIs against Franklin. Thomeczek was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, Drew McLellan tallied a double and an RBI, and Noah Mosley also notched an RBI for the Cougars.
Tate McLean started and earned the win, allowing three runs over six innings while striking out eight.
Logan County (6-3) is at South Warren on Monday.
Franklin-Simpson (4-5) visits Monroe County on Monday.
