Sixty years ago, the Righteous Brothers’ recording of “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feelin’ ” was at the top of the Billboard charts.
On Saturday, The Righteous Brothers, along with Orchestra Kentucky, will perform the beloved hit song and many others when they take the stage at 7:30 p.m. at SKyPAC as part of their “Lovin’ Feelin’ Farewell Tour.”
Made up of Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield, the duo was most active in the 1960s and 1970s performing songs in the soul, pop and soft rock genres.
“They spent many years as a duo until the passing of Bobby Hatfield in 2003,” said Makenzie Belcher, marketing and public relations assistant at SKyPAC. “Since then, Bill Medley has been keeping the memory and music alive. He is now joined by Bucky Heard, a phenomenal addition, whose voice keeps the Righteous Brothers sound intact.”
Medley said in a news release that no one could ever take Bobby Hatfield’s place, “but when I caught Bucky Heard’s show, it all came together – I found the right guy to help me recreate the magic.”
The farewell tour will include performances of “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feelin,” “Unchained Melody,” “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” from the movie “Dirty Dancing,” “Soul and Inspiration,” “Ebb Tide” and “Rock and Roll Heaven.”
“They (the audience) will get to witness remarkable vocals, feel the nostalgia that this music will bring and hear Orchestra Kentucky elevate the experience to another level,” Belcher said.
She said the performance is special because The Righteous Brothers not only defined a generation with their hits, but they have remained instantly recognizable.
“Our very own Orchestra Kentucky is currently wrapping up its 25th anniversary season, and having headliners of this caliber leading the night is another special way to celebrate,” Belcher said. “We are not only celebrating the 25th anniversary further, but we are also getting to experience The Righteous Brothers on their Farewell Tour – making it a heartfelt and meaningful night for all in attendance.”
The show is not included in the 2024-2025 subscription package for Orchestra Kentucky subscribers.
