Norwood fires perfect game in Spartans’ 5-0 win

South Warren sophomore pitcher Courtney Norwood tossed a perfect game to carry the host Spartans to a 5-0 softball win against Owensboro Catholic on Tuesday.

Norwood needed only 86 pitches to complete seven innings, allowing no hits or walks while striking out 14 batters to earn the complete-game victory.

Layla Ogden went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs to pace the Spartans. Hadley Borders was 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and Hayden Holloway added a solo home run.

South Warren (5-0) visits Louisville Assumption on Thursday.

Warren East 6, Butler County 1

Jordan Brooks went 3-for-4 with a pair of stolen bases and an RBI to lift host Warren East to a 6-1 win against Butler County on Tuesday.

Tristen Lindsey tallied a double and two RBIs for the Lady Raiders. Lydia Jones and Kenzie Upton each added a double and an RBI, Brooklynn Neville chipped in with an RBI and Kynleigh Barrick, Addison Lee and Kennedy Lawson each had a double.

Autumn Brooks started in the circle and earned the win, allowing one run while fanning four over five innings. Lindsey finished up with two scoreless innings of relief, striking out four.

Warren East (4-1) is back in action Friday at Edmonson County.

Butler County (1-4) hosts Franklin-Simpson on Thursday.

ACS 17, Bowling Green 2

Maddie Gray homered and drove in four runs as part of a 2-for-3 day at the plate to spark host Allen County-Scottsville to a 17-2 win in four innings against Bowling Green on Tuesday.

Jacie Rice wwas 4-for-4 with three RBIs for the host Lady Patriots. Aubrey Williams went 2-for-2 with two doubles and an RBI, Ally Anderson was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, three runs scored and an RBI, Shiloh Knievel homered and drove in three runs, Haiden Brown tallied a double and an RBI, and Payton Hopkins stole two bases and had an RBI in the win.

ACS pitcher Addison Ausbrooks pitched all four innings for the win, allowing two runs (one earned) while striking out one.

ACS (5-0) is at District 15 rival Glasgow on Thursday.

Payton Steward went 2-for-2 and JaNyah Perkins tallied an RBI for Bowling Green (2-3), which visits Owensboro on Thursday.

Russellville 9, Franklin-Simpson 6

Anyiah Hampton homered and drove in four runs to boost homestanding Russellville to a 9-6 win against District 13 foe Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday.

Ja’eda Poindexter was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBis for the Lady Panthers. Mariyah Merriweather was 2-for-2 with an RBI, Kha’Mirah Hampton tallied a double and two RBIs and Addison Duncan also drove in a run.

Rylee Grayson pitched a complete game to earn the win for Russellville (4-2 overall, 1-0 district), which hosts Ohio County on Thursday.

Jasmine Grover went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, Kaitlyn Woodall was 2-for-4, Addison Shelton had a triple and two RBIs, and Kloie Smith and Hallie Boles each added an RBI for the visiting Lady Wildcats.

Franklin-Simpson (5-2, 0-1) is at Butler County on Thursday.

TCC 19, Logan County 18

Host Todd County Central prevailed for a wild 19-18 win in eight innings against District 13 rival Logan County on Tuesday.

Madelyn Burgess went 4-for-4 with an RBI for the Lady Cougars in the loss. Caris Taylor was 3-for-6 with two triples and three RBIs, Reese Wetton was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two stolen bases, Kallie Taylor went 3-for-7 with three RBIs, Haley Henson was 2-for-6 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs, Macie Clinard tallied four RBIs and Brenley Adler had one RBI.

Logan County (1-4, 0-1) visits Muhlenberg County on Thursday.

Baseball

Greenwood 6, Franklin-Simpson 1

Chaze Huff tallied a double and two RBIs to boost host Greenwood to a 6-1 win against Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday.

John Kincaid was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Gators. Andrew Jolly added a triple and Jackson Lee had a double.

Ryan Loiars earned the win in relief, allowing one run over three innings while fanning three. Henry Justice started and pitched three scoreless innings, striking out three.

Greenwood (5-0) is at Owensboro Catholic on Thursday.

Brady Delk went 2-for-3 and Layne Alford tallied a double and an RBI for Franklin-Simpson (3-3), which is at Barren County on Thursday.

South Warren 7, Barren County 0

Austin Allen fired a two-hit shutout to carry visiting South Warren to a 7-0 win against Barren County on Tuesday.

Allen earned the complete-game win, striking out six.

John Mosley led the Spartans’ offense with a 3-for-4 day and two stolen bases. Griffin Rardin was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Camden Page went 2-for-3 with two stolen basese, Jaxen Decker was 2-for-5, Joseph Fentress tallied two RBIs, Ethan Reynolds had two stolen bases and an RBI, and Cole Kuzma also notched an RBI.

South Warren (6-0) hosts Warren East on Thursday.

Barren County (2-4) is home against Franklin-Simpson on Thursday.

Glasgow 2, Green County 1

Josiah Driver was 3-for-3 with an RBI to boost visiting Glasgow to a 2-1 win against Green County on Tuesday.

Een Templin also drove in a run for the Scotties.

Landon Martin pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowing just one run in a no-decision. Glasgow reliever Garett Shields got the win after pitching 2 1/3 scoreless innings while striking out two.

Glasgow (2-4) hosts Logan County on Friday.

Logan County 13, ACS 2

Tripp Wadlington went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and five RBIs to spark visiting Logan County to a 13-2 win in five innings against Allen County-Scottsville on Tuesday.

Noah Mosley was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Tate McLean went 2-for-3, Brady Hinton notched a double and three RBIs, Eric Walker drove in two runs and Drew McLellan added an RBI for the Cougars.

TySean Thomeczek started and worked three innings for the win, allowing one run while striking out four. Logan County (3-3) visits Glasgow on Friday.

ACS (1-4) is at Edmonson County on Thursday.

Girls’ lacrosse

South Warren 19, Owensboro 3

Kolbe Wyrick scored five goals and had an assist, and teammate Ida Stewart also notched five goals as host South Warren cruised past Owensboro 19-3 on Tuesday.

Jordynn Brooks added three goals, Honette Irakiza had two goals and two assists, Carly Scarborough and Erica Perez Caballero added a goal and an assist each, Malak Mubark and Maddie Cornell each finished with a goal, and Amiahya Woosley, Rachel Marksberry and Kendal Allison each chipped in with an assist.

Goalkeeper Lilia Compton tallied three saves for South Warren (5-3), which visits Bowling Green on Thursday.
