Ruby Mae Belcher Turner

BOWLING GREEN – Ruby Mae Belcher Turner, 98, of Bowling Green passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025 with her family at her bedside. She was born in Hadley, Kentucky on December 22, 1926, a daughter of the late Edgar Belcher and Ada Mae Bishop Belcher Young.
She is also preceded in death by her husband, Sylvan Ray Turner and two sons, William Ray Turner and Richard Allen Turner. Ruby Mae was a graduate of Bowling Green Business College and spent most of her life working in childcare. Ruby got saved at Lewis Chapel Church in Hadley on September 11, 1939 and was baptized in the Gasper River on September 16, 1939.
“Nana” always knew she was a little bit different. Not every mother would ask for a real good pair of wire cutters for Mother’s Day or a 410-shot gun for Christmas, which by the way she did receive these gifts she asked for. She was a lifelong Methodist, a member of St. James United Methodist Church where she was also a member of The United Methodist Women.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Nicole Wise (Brian); daughter-in-law, Sandy Turner; great grandchildren, Ashton Adams, Ally Adams, Anderson Wise and Averick Wise.
Funeral service for Ruby will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm Sunday, at the funeral home.
