BGPD: No charges to be brought in discovery of fetus in sewer system

A death investigation involving the discovery of a fetus is concluded with no criminal charges being brought.

According to a Bowling Green Police Department report, officers were called Friday to 1136 Angora Court regarding a fetus that was found in the sewer system by a maintenance worker.

The worker told police the system serviced about 20 apartment units, and police were unable to determine the apartment from where the fetus originated.

Officer Ronnie Ward, BGPD spokesman, said an autopsy determined that the fetus was not viable, and no criminal charges will be brought.

Crash — A Bowling Green man was killed Wednesday in a two-car crash.

According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 3:26 p.m. Wednesday to a crash on Veterans Memorial Lane at the intersection with Barren River Road.

The sheriff’s office said the T-bone collision resulted in the death of Donald K. Ballentine, 52, of Bowling Green.

Indictment — A federal grand jury meeting in Bowling Green returned an indictment against a Monroe County man in drug charges.

According to the Barren River Drug Task Force, Brandon Gearlds, 41, of Tompkinsville, was indicted on a charge of distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine between Oct. 26, 2023, and April 24, 2024.

Gearlds was also indicted on a charge of distribution of five grams or more of meth on Oct. 23, 2023, according to the task force.

Gearlds made his initial appearance March 18 in U.S. District Court and was ordered to be detained pending trial.

The case is being investigated by the task force and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.BGPD: No charges to be brought in discovery of fetus in sewer system
