Nominations sought for Volunteers of the Year awards

Volunteers in Action, made up of representatives from various agencies and organizations that rely on volunteerism, is seeking nominations for its 34th annual Volunteers of the Year Awards.
Honoree categories are: Anne Grubbs Spirit of Service Award, which goes to the person excelling in quality, length and spirit of service to others; Team Spirit Award, which recognizes those groups who work together to provide volunteer service in the community; Rising Star Award, which recognizes an individual or team new to volunteering and gaining momentum with an organization; and Young Leader Award, which recognizes an individual or team who is 18 years old or younger who provides volunteer service in the community.
All nominees will be recognized as winners from their organizations and will receive a memento and certificate at the Volunteer of the Year Awards ceremony scheduled for 2 p.m. April 27 at the Bob Kirby Library.
All nominations must be submitted on or before March 28.
