Morgantown Bank & Trust offers scholarship to high school seniors

Morgantown Bank & Trust is offering four high school seniors in Butler and Warren counties the chance to win $2,500 scholarships.

Eligible students may use the scholarship for either a four-year college degree or a two-year associate degree program.

Scholarship recipients will receive $1,250 at the beginning of the first semester and $1,250 at the beginning of the second semester.

To remain eligible for the second payment, students maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and provide proof of registration for the next semester.

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must submit the following by March 28: a completed scholarship application form; a high school transcript (students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher); a resume that includes personal information, extracurricular activities (organized by school year), community involvement, work experience and career objectives; and a personal essay explaining the reasons for pursuing a post-secondary education.

I am originally from Owensboro and graduated from Owensboro High School. In 1994, I received a degree in print journalism from Murray State University. I have lived in Bowling Green and have worked at the paper since I graduated.
