A Bowling Green man who police said failed to appear in court to be sentenced for crimes related to a 2019 shooting was arrested Monday on multiple criminal charges.
According to the Bowling Green-Warren County Drug Task Force, agents developed information that Treshawn M. Hutchins, 26, was involved in drug trafficking and had outstanding warrants.
Agents conducting surveillance saw Hutchins get into a white Cadillac Escalade on Monday afternoon and drive from his apartment toward Enterprise Court.
The drug task force said a Kentucky State Police detective with activated blue lights on his vehicle attempted to block Hutchins’ vehicle, but Hutchins swerved around the detective’s car and evaded a second detective by driving along a sidewalk and through some landscaping.
Hutchins is then alleged to have fled to the Russellville Road intersection before striking a car and a pickup truck on Russellville Road, disabling the Escalade.
Hutchins ran from the scene of the crash a short distance before surrendering when two drug task force detectives confronted him at gunpoint, the task force said.
The Escalade driven by Hutchins was also carrying his sister and his 5-year-old niece, and all three were treated and released from The Medical Center for minor injuries.
Police arrested Hutchins on charges of first-degree bail jumping, failure to appear, four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, a count of first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), first-degree fleeing or evading police and disregarding a stop sign.
Law enforcement obtained a search warrant for Hutchins’ residence and seized a quantity of fentanyl, a handgun and ammunition, the task force said.
Hutchins had pleaded guilty in 2022 in Warren Circuit Court to a charge of second-degree assault along with charges of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief and tampering with physical evidence, all stemming from a 2019 incident at Sebern Place Apartment Complex in which a man was shot in the neck.
Court records indicate that Hutchins did not appear for his sentencing hearing in 2022 and was considered a fugitive.
The task force said more charges are anticipated as a result of Monday’s arrest.
