Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College will host an open forum March 4 for the public to weigh in on the qualities to be sought in the next SKyCTC president.
It will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Building F conference room of the main campus, 1845 Loop Dr.
Attendees can ask questions without time limits, said Blair Hess, the vice president of marketing and communications for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.
The public forum is one of four that day: There’s a separate one for college leadership, one for college faculty and staff, and one for SKyCTC’s board of directors, Hess said. KCTCS President Ryan Quarles will be present at all the forums, Hess added.
“The purpose of these forums is to get feedback from our stakeholders and to help the search firm in their recruitment efforts,” Hess said. “Through these forums, we learn what different constituent groups think is important, the characteristics they want to see in a president and leader in the community, and other general input from the community.
This also helps the search firm learn what makes Bowling Green a good place to work and live, which helps them in their recruitment efforts to help find good applicant matches.”
KCTCS typically incorporates this process when filling a college’s president position, Hess said. Search and selection are being facilitated by Quarles and two consultants at Myers McRae Executive Search and Consulting, according to a SKyCTC release.
The position opened up over the summer when SKyCTC’s then-president of 11 years, Phil Neal, became the acting executive vice president and provost for KCTCS.
Brooke L. Justice shortly after filled the local position as SKyCTC’s interim president in August.
