WkU’s Craig tied for lead at Invitational

Western Kentucky’s women’s golf team sits in third at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational after Friday’s first round in Greensboro, Georgia.

The Lady Tops are 14-over par as a team, three shots behind No. 26 Florida.

WKU senior Catie Craig, a Georgia native, is tied for the lead with East Carolina’s Macie Burcham after they each posted 1-under 71s. WKU’s Sydney Hackett is tied for seventh following a 2-over 74.

Craig tallied 15 pars and two birdies on Friday. Her 15 pars were second-most in the field and her two birdies were tied for seventh. She played the par 4s at even par, tied for second-best in the field.

Averi Cline’s three birdies for the Lady Toppers are tied for second-most in the field. Cline leads the field in par 5-scoring at 3-under.

Hackett played the par 3s at 1-under, tied for best in the field.

The Lady Tops led the field in scoring on par 3s and par 5s, while ranking fourth on par 4s.

WKU’s seven team birdies is tied with three others teams for the most in the field.

The Lady Toppers are back in action on Saturday morning for the second round at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational. Action will get underway with a 10:30 a.m. CT shotgun start.
