When Greenwood’s boys’ basketball team needed a play to be made in Friday’s home game against District 14 rival South Warren, the Gators most often turned to Garrett Hatcher.

The senior scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed six rebounds, plus came up with the game-clinching steal and resulting breakaway layup in the Gators’ 67-62 victory – the program’s first district win in almost three years.

Hatcher scored 10 points over the final eight minutes to lift Greenwood.

“We’d been struggling lately and we talked with coach (Will McCoy),” Hatcher said. “This was the game we needed to turn it around and we came out here and did what we needed to do and got the job done.”

Greenwood hosts Allen County-Scottsville on Friday.
