South Warren’s Cameron Bell will continue his football career, signing to play for Morehead State on Wednesday.
“I’m very blessed,” Bell said. “I just continue to thank God for the opportunity to continue playing the sport I love and pursue my athletic and academic career.”
Bell said choosing to play at Morehead State was an easy decision.
“The brotherhood,” Bell said. “When I went on my official visit, I just felt the bond. The chemistry there is unmatched. I just think they are a really good football team and I can’t wait to join them.”
Bell began his career at South Warren as a tight end before transitioning to the offensive line his junior season. The 6-foot-3, 278 pound Bell credited working with former local players turned NFL players George Fant, Forrest Lamp and Jordan Meredith with helping make the transition to the offensive line.
“I look at them as role models,” Bell said. “They are a big part of my success. They taught me how to be a better offensive lineman and it paid off my senior season. I am forever grateful.”
South Warren finished 12-2 last season with an offense that totaled more than 3,000 yards passing and almost 1,700 yards rushing. Morehead State finished 7-5 last season under first-year coach Jason Woodman.
Bell said he was happy to have his decision out of the way and his future locked up.
“It’s a great relief,” Bell said. “The recruiting process is done. I am just super excited to go up there to Morehead the next couple of months and get to rock and rolling.”
