For four years, Crocker Law Firm has sponsored a fundraising event for Junior Achievement of South Central that allows participants to show off their bowling skills.

Bowling for Junior Achievement, scheduled from 8 to 11 a.m. Feb. 1 at Southern Lanes, will raise funds that will help provide free educational programming for K-12 students on financial literacy, entrepreneurship and work-readiness.

Bowling sponsorships are available for corporations to purchase and members of the public are also encouraged to register to participate, but participants must sign up in advance.

Aimee Bettersworth, special events coordinator for JA, said that each organization that is a part of the event will bowl one game that morning and participate in an awards ceremony afterward.

“It’s going to be a ton of fun,” she said. “It’s a wonderful fundraising opportunity for us.”

She said that many of the partners and sponsors return each year “because of how much fun they have.

“Some teams have some serious bowlers and we really appreciate them supporting us,” she said.

Junior Achievement is also offering the option to sponsor a youth or special populations team to bowl under a company’s name, which gives children and young adults the opportunity to participate.

Included this year is LifeWorks, Down Syndrome of South Central Kentucky, Boys and Girls Club, The Foundry and the Adaptive Parks and Rec League.

Bettersworth said the goal is to raise around $25,000. Last year, around $22,000 was raised.

“All proceeds will go back to provide programming for our K-12 students,” she said.

Programs differ according to the grade level and courses are offered in four to six sessions, either completed in one day or broken up into different days.

Participants will receive an event T-shirt, free food, one game for five bowlers (including shoes), door prizes and various promotional deliverables for higher level sponsorships.

No walk-up participants the day of the event will be accepted.
