BOWLING GREEN – Dr. Kay C. Wiatr, Age 86, of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Dr. Kay C. Wiatr, a cherished member of the Bowling Green community and a devoted physician, peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Brentwood, TN, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in undivided India, Dr. Kay graduated from the renowned All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi before completing her dermatology residency in Chicago, Illinois. It was in Chicago that she met her husband, Dr. Daniel J. Wiatr, and together they built a life centered on love, faith, and service. Dr. Kay followed her husband to Fort Knox, KY, where she worked as a civilian contractor during the Vietnam War, and it was here that she first developed her deep affection for Kentucky.
The couple later moved to Bowling Green in 1970, where Dr. Kay established her dermatology practice, serving the community with dedication and compassion. Her passion for medicine never waned, and she returned to practice several times even after her retirement. Dr. Kay also traveled abroad to provide medical aid, including to India after the devastating 2004 tsunami.
Even in her retirement, Dr. Kay remained committed to helping others, volunteering at the Bowling Green Free Clinic and offering care to those in need. She took great pride in the kindness and generosity of the Bowling Green community, which welcomed her and her family with warmth and open arms. A lifelong advocate for charitable causes, Dr. Kay was also an active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where she contributed her time and energy to support the church and its mission.
Dr. Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Dr. Daniel J. Wiatr. She is survived by their four children: Nikki (Myron) Phillips, Tanya Wiatr, Kris (Jennifer) Wiatr, and Michael (Rachel) Wiatr, all of Nashville; her sister, Asha Cariappa; her brothers, Vinod Chaudhry (Shagun) and Vijay Chaudhry (Sayeeda); and her seven adoring grandchildren: Sydney, Devin, Mady, Cayle, Emma, Dylan, and Dalton. The family has entrusted J.C. Kirby & Sons Lovers Lane Chapel with arrangements.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with inurnment to follow at Bowling Green Gardens. Visitation will take place on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM at J.C. Kirby & Sons Lovers Lane Chapel.
Additional visitation will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in her memory.
