Hilltoppers announce signings of 16 more players for 2025 class

Western Kentucky’s football program announced the signings of 16 players on Friday, bringing the total number of signees in the 2025 class to 41.
The latest group is comprised of 15 Division I transfers, with 11 of those coming directly from the FBS level and four from the FCS level. The 16 incoming players include six offensive players, nine defensive players and one specialist.
The 2025 class now features 19 offensive players, 21 defensive players and one specialist.
Brandon Buckhaulter | R-Sr. | WR | 6-2 | 198 | UAB/Ole Miss/Hartfield Academy | Jackson, Miss.
Buckhaulter comes to WKU after spending two seasons at UAB. The receiver appeared in 14 games for the Blazers and caught seven passes for 121 yards and a touchdown. He appeared in three games during his final season at UAB in 2024 before suffering a season-ending injury. In his first season with the program as a redshirt sophomore in 2023, Buckhaulter appeared in 11 games with five catches for 103 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown against South Florida. Buckhaulter spent the two seasons prior to his arrival in Birmingham, Alabama, at Ole Miss, where he appeared in 11 games, primarily on special teams. He did not see any game action in his first collegiate season in 2021 and redshirted. Buckhaulter prepped at Hartfield Academy, where he was rated a four-star prospect by ESPN and a three-star prospect by Rivals and 247Sports. ESPN ranked him the No. 65 wide receiver in the nation and the seventh-best player in Mississippi. He was an All-MAIS State selection during his prep career.
John Cannon | R-Sr. | K | 5-9 | 176 | USF/NSU University School | Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Cannon transfers to WKU after spending four seasons at USF, including as the team’s primary kicker during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. He went 12-for-16 on field goals in his final season with the Bulls, with a long make of 53 yards. He was 47-for-48 on PATs during the 2024 season, and finished second on the team in scoring. Between the 2023 and 2024 seasons, he made 64 consecutive PATs, which is the second-longest streak in USF history. Cannon was named MVP of the Hawaii Bowl after going 3-for-3 on field goals – a USF bowl record – and scoring 13 points – also a USF bowl record. In that 41-39 five-overtime victory over San Jose State, he hit a game-tying 41-yard field goal – the longest in USF bowl history – with two seconds left, as well as a 36-yarder in the second overtime. In 2023, Cannon went 10-for-15 on field goals with a long of 45 yards. He was perfect on his 46 PAT attempts. His first career made field goal came in the 2023 season opener against WKU at Houchens-Smith Stadium from 37 yards. He saw action in one game in 2022 and redshirted after his first college season in 2021. Cannon played his senior prep season with TRU Prep Academy, which absorbed players from his NSU University School, since its program was idle due to the pandemic. He earned First Team Class 2A All-State honors after going 12-for-13 on field goals as a senior. In his career at NSU University School, he went 16-for-20 on field goals and 137-for-149 on PATs, scoring 176 points. He was 10-for-13 on field goals as a junior, and as a sophomore he earned First Team All-State honors after going 6-for-7 on field goals and 68-for 72 on PATs.
Jalen Emery | R-Sr. | DB | 5-10 | 189 | Houston/Shadow Creek HS | Pearland, Texas
Emery joins the Hilltoppers after starting his career at Houston, where he appeared in 21 games over three seasons and recorded 37 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and nine passes defended. He played in a pair of games during the 2024 seasons with two tackles and one pass defended, and the year prior he played in seven games with nine tackles and one pass defended. As a redshirt freshman in 2022, he played in 12 games and tallied 26 tackles, including one for loss, and defended seven passes. The 26 tackles were most by Houston’s freshmen during the season, and his seven pass breakups were tied for most among AAC freshmen. He was a member of the 2022-23 AAC All-Academic Team. He did not see any action and redshirted as a true freshman in 2021. Emery prepped at Shadow Creek High School in Texas, where he was considered a three-star prospect by 247Sports. The publication rated him the No. 117 overall cornerback and the No. 209 player in the state of Texas. He helped Shadow Creek to a perfect 16-0 Texas 5A Division I state title as a junior.
Eric Etienne | So. | DL | 6-1 | 305 | Norfolk State/Miramar HS | Miramar, Fla.
Etienne comes to WKU after a year at Norfolk State, where he played in nine games and posted 13 tackles, with three for loss and two sacks. Etienne prepped at Miramar High School in Florida. He recorded 63 tackles with 13 tackles for loss and four sacks as a senior, according to his team’s MaxPreps account. He also forced four fumbles and recovered two during that 2023 season at Miramar. As a junior, he had 27 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and three sacks.
Jakeem Fletcher | R-Sr. | DL | 6-1 | 305 | Alabama State/Tanner HS | Tanner, Ala.
Fletcher makes the move to WKU after spending four seasons at Alabama State. The defensive tackle played in 20 games over the last three seasons for the Hornets, with his most productive season coming in 2024. He played in 12 games and recorded 40 tackles and one forced fumble that season. He appeared in five games with five tackles the year prior, and had one tackle in three games in 2022. He did not see any action in 2021. Fletcher prepped at Tanner High School in Alabama.
Matt Henry | R-Sr. | WR | 5-11 | 176 | Western Illinois/Livingstone College/Dade Christian School | Miami, Fla.
Henry joins the Hilltoppers after one productive season at Western Illinois. He appeared in 12 games with the Leathernecks and led the team in receiving with 1,211 yards and six touchdowns on 64 catches. He ranked first in the Big South-OVC in receiving yards per game, first in receiving yards, sixth in receptions per game, fourth in all-purpose yards, third in yards per catch and seventh in total receptions. His 15 receptions against Lindenwood were most in a single game by any player in the conference in 2024, and he twice posted 200-plus receiving yards in a game – 242 against Gardner-Webb and 226 against Lindenwood. Henry’s five 100-yard receiving games were tied for most in the league. He ranked fifth nationally in receiving yards and receiving yards per game and 12th in yards per reception. Henry was named an FCS Football All-America Third Team member and he was an Associated Press All-America Team Honorable Mention selection. He was a 2024 Big South-OVC Football Association All-Conference First Team Offense honoree. He spent the previous three seasons at Division II Livingstone College, where he appeared in 15 games and caught 66 passes for 840 yards and eight touchdowns. Henry prepped at Dade Christian School in Florida.
Jaylen Lewis | R-Jr. | DB | 5-11 | 176 | Temple/Arkansas/Haywood HS | Brownsville, Tenn.
Lewis transfers to WKU after one season at Temple, where he appeared in 11 games with six starts during the 2024 season. He totaled 43 tackles, with two for loss, plus an interception, six pass breakups and a forced fumble for the Owls. Lewis arrived at Temple after starting his career at Arkansas, where he played in four games over the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He posted three tackles as a Razorback. Lewis prepped at Haywood High School in Tennessee and was a consensus three-star prospect according to 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN. 247Sports rated him the No. 19 player in Tennessee and the No. 52 player in the country at his position. As a senior, he recorded 31 tackles and an interception he returned for a touchdown, and he also caught 51 passes for 977 yards and 14 touchdowns to help his team to a 13-1 record and a state semifinal appearance. In addition, he rushed 15 times for 88 yards, had two kick returns for 105 yards and had nine punt returns for 145 yards. As a junior in 2020, he helped Haywood to the state title game by posting 56 tackles, four tackles for loss and seven interceptions during the season. He was named to the All-West Tennessee Defensive First Team.
Kennon Loftin | Jr. | LB | 6-2 | 225 | Jones College/West Jones HS | Laurel, Miss.
Loftin comes to WKU after spending two seasons at the junior college level with Jones College. He appeared in 16 games at linebacker for the Bobcats during that time with 46 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one interception and three passes defended. He played in seven games in 2024 with 31 tackles and three tackles for loss. In nine games played in 2023, Loftin had 15 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one interception and three passes defended. Loftin prepped at West Jones High School in Mississippi, where he was considered a three-star prospect, according to ESPN and 247Sports. The latter ranked him the No. 48 player in the state. He was a Region 3-5A First Team selection as a junior and senior. He started playing football his junior season. Loftin’s uncle, Jerrel Powe, played in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Texans and Washington Redskins.
Jaavan Mack | Sr. | DB | 5-10 | 183 | Charlotte/Georgia Military College/Erskine College/Clarke Central HS | Athens, Ga.
Mack transfers to WKU after spending the 2024 season at Charlotte. He appeared in five games for the 49ers and recorded one tackle. He was at Georgia Military College in 2023, where he appeared in 10 games and posted eight tackles. He started his college career at Erskine College, where he had 34 tackles, seven pass breakups and a blocked kick in nine games during the 2021 season. Mack prepped at Clarke Central High School in Georgia, where he was an All-Region player. During his high school career, he posted 80 tackles, four interceptions and eight pass breakups, helping the Gladiators win a pair of regional championships. His twin brother, Jairus, also signed with WKU as part of the 2025 class. His cousin, Dunta Robinson, played in the NFL for the Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons and Kansas City Chiefs.
Braxton Myers | R-So. | DB | 6-1 | 201 | Southern Miss/Purdue/Ole Miss/Coppell HS | Coppell, Texas
Myers joins WKU after spending the 2024 season at Southern Miss. There, he appeared in all 12 games and recorded 31 tackles, two tackles for loss, an interception he returned for a touchdown and three passes defended. He spent the 2023 season at Purdue, but did not see any game action. Myers initially signed with Ole Miss and spent the spring 2023 season with the Rebels. Myers prepped at Coppell High School in Texas, where he was a unanimous four-star recruit by all major outlets. He was a member of the ESPN300, checking in at No. 175 on the list. 247Sports listed Myers as the No. 146 player in the country, and ESPN ranked him as the No. 19 cornerback in the country and the No. 29 player in Texas. He earned an invitation to the 2023 All-American Bowl. He was a District 6-6A First Team selection at cornerback as a junior. Myers began his prep career at John Paul II High School, where he was named a Second Team TAPPS All-State honoree in 2020 and helped his team to a 10-3 record and state runner-up finish as a freshman.
Laurence Seymore | R-Sr. | OL | 6-2 | 333 | Akron/Miami/Miami Central HS | Miami Gardens, Fla.
Seymore transfers to WKU after a one-year stint at Akron, where he appeared in seven games and started five at center and left guard. Prior to that, Seymore spent three seasons at Miami, where he played in 14 games with three starts. Seymore prepped at Miami Central High School in Florida, where he was a consensus four-star prospect by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. He was ranked as the No. 163 player overall in the ESPN300, and he was ranked as the No. 6 offensive guard and No. 26 player in the state by the outlet. In the Rivals Top 250, Seymore was ranked as the No. 151 player in the country, the No. 7 offensive guard in the country and the No. 23 player in Florida. According to the 247Sports Composite Top247, he was the No. 162 overall player, and the outlet considered him the No. 10 offensive guard nationally and the No. 23 player in Florida. He was selected to the Under Armour All-America Game.
Venson Sneed Jr. | R-Jr. | DL | 6-4 | 270 | Indiana/Winter Park HS | Wabasso, Fla.
Sneed makes the move to WKU after three seasons at Indiana. The defensive lineman appeared in 17 games during that time, with three appearances in the 2024 season. He recorded three tackles in his final season with the Hoosiers. He appeared in all 12 games during the 2023 season and posted five tackles, with 1.5 for loss and one forced fumble. He played in two games as a true freshman in 2022 with one tackle. Sneed prepped at Winter Park High School in Florida, where he was rated a four-star prospect at defensive end by Rivals. The outlet rated him the No. 28 defensive end nationally, and he was ranked as the No. 11 player in the Orlando Sentinel’s Central Florida Super60. As a senior, he had 28 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, three sacks and five quarterback hurries.
Rylen Su’a-Filo | Sr. | DL | 6-1 | 315 | Southern Utah/Orem HS | Orem, Utah
Su’a-Filo transfers to WKU after a successful career along the defensive line at Southern Utah, where he appeared in 33 games over the last three seasons. During his final season with the Thunderbirds in 2024, he had 27 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, one sack, six quarterback hurries and two fumble recoveries in 12 games. He played in 11 games during the 2023 season and had 28 tackles, five tackles for loss, two sacks, seven quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery. He was named All-UAC Second Team Defensive Line, and was a 2023 Phil Steele All-UAC Second Team selection. He played in 10 games in 2022, finishing with 28 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, three pass breakups, one quarterback hurry, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Su’a-Filo prepped at Orem High School in Utah. He was named First Team-All-State, First Team All-Region and team DL MVP after racking up 72 tackles and 8.5 sacks as a senior, according to his team’s MaxPreps account.
Weston Wallace | R-Sr. | OL | 6-4 | 338 | Georgia Southern/Georgia/Gatewood School | Eatonton, Ga.
Wallace joins the Hilltoppers after two years at Georgia Southern, where he appeared in 26 games along the offensive line, defensive line and on special teams. During his final season with the Eagles in 2024, he appeared in all 13 games with one start against Marshall on the offensive line. In 2023, he played in all 13 games for Georgia Southern as a defensive lineman, posting 12 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks, along with a pass breakup and quarterback hurry. He was a member of the 2023-24 Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll. Following the 2023 season, he made the move from defense to offense. Wallace started his career at Georgia as an offensive lineman. He was part of two national championship teams, but did not see any game action with the Bulldogs. He made the move from offensive line to defensive line during his final spring with the program. Wallace prepped at Gatewood School, where he was part of GISA AA state champion teams in 2018 and 2019. He was a two-time All-State honoree and a three-time All-Region selection. He also competed on his school’s 2019 state champion track and field team, claiming the 2019 state title in discus. He was part of the 2015-17 GISA Interscholastic state champion shotgun teams, and also won the 2017-18 Region 4AAA wrestling title and claimed 2017 NHSCA All-America honors. He was named to the All-Region basketball team as a junior and senior. He also competed on the golf and clay target teams. He was a member of numerous organizations, including the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Government Association, Anchor Club, Literacy Team and Farmers and Merchants Bank Junior Board, and he earned the Presidential Award for Educational Excellence.
Kelby Williams | Sr. | WR | 6-2 | 185 | Old Dominion/Trinity Valley CC/Manvel HS | Houston, Texas
Williams comes to WKU from Old Dominion, where he spent the last two seasons. The receiver appeared in 14 games for the Monarchs with seven starts during that time. He caught 28 passes for 503 yards and three scores during that time. During his final season at Old Dominion in 2024, he played in seven games and caught two passes for 52 yards and a touchdown. The season prior, he appeared in 12 games with seven starts, catching 26 passes for 451 yards and two touchdowns. Williams spent the 2022 season at Trinity Valley Community College, where he caught 25 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns and was considered a three-star junior college recruit by 247Sports. Williams prepped at Manvel High School in Texas, where he earned All-District honors. As a senior in 2021, he caught 19 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns in nine games, according to his team’s MaxPreps account.
Justin Wolf | R-Sr. | TE | 6-4 | 245 | Kansas State/Wagner College/Xaverian HS | Breezy Point, N.Y.
Wolf transfers to WKU after spending the 2024 season at Kansas State. He did not see any game action with the Wildcats. He started his college career at FCS Wagner. He was with the Seahawks for four seasons and appeared in 21 games during that time. He totaled seven catches for 55 yards and one touchdown while at Wagner. During his final season with the program in 2023, he played in five games with two starts before a season-ending injury cut his fall short. He caught four passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. He caught three passes for 12 yards in eight games with two starts during the 2022 season. Wolf prepped at Xaverian High School in New York, where he caught 36 passes for 377 yards and two touchdowns over his junior and senior seasons. He was named First Team All-Conference as a senior. He also played defensive end in high school.
