Hilltoppers pick up quartet of transfer commitments

Western Kentucky’s football team continues to build the roster for the 2025 season.

The Hilltoppers added four more commitments over the past two days, with three defensive players and one on offense announcing their intention to play at WKU on social media.

On Tuesday, Indiana transfer defensive lineman Venson Sneed Jr. announced on his X (formerly Twitter) social media account that he has committed to WKU.

A 6-foot-4, 266-pound native of Wabasso, Florida, Sneed spent three seasons at Indiana. As a redshirt sophomore this past season, Sneed appeared in three games and totaled three tackles.

The previous season, Sneed played in 12 games for the Hoosiers and tallied five tackles including 1.5 tackles for loss and forced a fumble. Sneed played in two games as a true freshman in 2022 and had one tackle.

The Hilltoppers picked up another commitment fo the defensive line on Monday when Alabama State transfer Jakeem Fletcher also announced his commitment on X. This past season as a redshirt sophomore, Fletcher totaled 40 tackles and a forced fumble while playing in all 12 games for the Hornets.

Fletcher, a 6-2, 291-pound native of Tanner, Alabama, spent four seasons at Alabama State and has 46 career tackles.

Also Monday, WKU got a commitment from Temple transfer defensive back Jaylen Lewis. The 6-0, 180-pound native of Brownsville, Tennessee, made the announcement on X.

At Temple this past season as a redshirt sophomore, Lewis finished seventh on the team with 43 tackles and saw action in 11 games. His best game for the Owls came against Connecticut, when Lewis set a career high with nine tackles and had a tackle for loss, forced a fumble and tallied an interception.

Lewis also had five pass breakups in his lone season at Temple after transferring to that program from Arkansas. Lewis had three career tackles in two seasons with the Razorbacks.

On Tuesday, WKU got a commitment from Akron transfer offensive lineman Laurence Seymour. A 6-2, 330-pound native of Miami Gardens, Florida, Seymour was in the Zips’ starting lineup for the season opener at Ohio State this past season and saw action in seven games.

Before Akron, Seymour spent three seasons at Miami and saw action in 14 games, with multiple starts, for the Hurricanes.
