BOWLING GREEN – Herbert Garnett Benningfield, 92, of Bowling Green passed away, Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at his residence. He was a native of Taylor Co., KY and was born March 26, 1932. Herbert was preceded in death by his wife Marlene Benningfield, his parents Theodore and Stella Benningfield, two sister Lorene McNear Caudill, Jane Thompson and Brenda Norman, one brother Charles Benningfield.
Herbert was a retired clerk for the U. S. Postal Service, a member of Southside Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.
Survivors include his daughter Deborah Ann Potter (Jerry), two sons Ronnie Benningfield (Katherine) and Randy Benningfield (Jana). Two sisters Regina Albright (Leon) and Virginia Borders. Eight precious grandchildren Shaun Benningfield, Amber Clubb, Brian Geringswald (Angie), Julie Champion (Josh), Bradley Benningfield (Ashley), Max Benningfield, Emily Yates (Cory), Barrett Croslin (Bethany). Seven precious great-grandchildren Mason Benningfield, Tripp Roberts, Hayven Yates, Reid Geringswald, Jaylee Champion, Jordyn Champion and Cole Benningfield and Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 1:00 pm at J. C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation will be on Tuesday 9:00 am until time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bowling Green Gardens, with Military Rites at the graveside. Expressions of Sympathy may be made to the Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
