Mead named co-CUSA player of the week

Western Kentucky women’s basketball senior point guard Alexis Mead earned Conference USA Co-Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Mead led the Lady Toppers with 18 points on an 88-70 loss against No. 16 Kentucky in Lexington. The Moreno Valley, California, native went 8-of-8 from the free-throw line, the 41st time she’s gone perfect from the free-throw line in her career. Mead also dished out four assists and had three steals against the Wildcats.

In her time with the Lady Toppers, Mead has reached 1,000 career points and is in the top 10 in career steals and career assists in the WKU record book.

The Lady Toppers will tip off CUSA play this week, hosting Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and FIU at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
