Warren Central regains top spot in Daily News Top 10

With District 14 play set to begin this weekend, the Warren Central and Bowling Green boys’ basketball teams remain locked in a battle for the top spot in the Daily News Area Top 10.

This week it is Warren Central’s turn to claim the top spot, returning after being bumped by the Purples last week. The Dragons hold the top spot by the slimmest of margins – garnering four first-place votes to three for Bowling Green.

Greenwood is third, with South Warren fourth. Clinton County and Warren East are tied for fifth.

Butler County, Cumberland County, Barren County and Russell County round out the boys’ poll.

On the girls’ side, Franklin-Simpson remains a unanimous No. 1, with Barren County second. Bowling Green moves up to third, with Warren East fourth and Metcalfe County fifth.

Allen County-Scottsville, Cumberland County, Monroe County, Greenwood and Todd County Central round out the girls’ poll.

This week’s voting panel includes Daily News sports writer Micheal Compton; Daily News sports editor Jeff Nations; Brian Davis of The Franklin Favorite in Franklin; Jay Turner of WCLU 104.7 FM in Glasgow; Don Meador of The Citizen-Times in Scottsville; Joe Brunk of Sporting Times Broadcast Network; and Chase Landrum of WCLU 103.1 in Glasgow.

Voting was conducted before Monday’s games.
