Edna Hanson Laman, 96, passed away peacefully at home on Dec. 9, 2024, surrounded by her family. Born in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, she grew up in Oakland, California, and then moved to Ash Flat, Arkansas, where she met and married the love of her life, Archie Laman.

Both were educators and after obtaining her Master’s Degree in 1962, graduating Summa Cum Laude and being inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa society, they came to Bowling Green and both taught at WKU until they retired. She loved teaching and knew from an early age that this was her calling. However, Edna‘s faith and her family were the focus of her life. Edna had a brilliant intellect and was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, and Gran Gran. She made each member of her family and her many friends feel heard, accepted and appreciated.

She is survived by her children, Susan (Robert) Bieker, Cindy (Tim) Steiner, Steven (Wendy) Laman and Kevin Laman, Allison (Gerard) Bacovillard. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Archie Laman, a daughter, Andrea Dennis, a grandson, Adam Carpenter, and a great-granddaughter, Accalia Letourneau.

Services are on Friday, Dec. 13 at First Baptist Church. Visitation is at 11. The funeral is at noon.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Brain Tumor Association, Hospice of Southern Kentucky or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
