The Medical Center at Caverna celebrated their $2.2 million Charles S. Caldwell Surgical Suite with a ribbon cutting and tours Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024. The Medical Center at Caverna celebrated the ribbon cutting of the $2.2 million Charles S. Caldwell Surgical Suite Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024.
“This upgraded, state-of-the-art surgery space will allow us to provide more services to our community closer to home,” said Alan Alexander, Vice President and Administrator of The Medical Center at Caverna. “We look forward to adding many additional types of surgical procedures in the coming months. The Charles S. Caldwell Surgical Suite is just another example of how Med Center Health invests in communities throughout Southcentral Kentucky.”
The renovation expanded surgical services and will further support the mission to care for the citizens of Hart, Barren, and surrounding counties.
Janet Leonard donated $500,000 to The Medical Center at Caverna in recognition of her close friend, Charles Caldwell, who was a leading patron of the hospital. The new surgical suite is named after Caldwell.
A portion of the funding, $250,000, was made possible by Congressman Brett Guthrie through a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant.
Following the ribbon cutting, dozens gathered outside The Medical Center at Caverna to kick off the holiday festivities and the Med Center Health Foundation’s Make the Season Bright program. The Caverna High School Band performed while Horse Cave Mayor Randall Curry flipped the switch to light a Christmas tree outside the hospital.
