Ann Fincel Moore

NAPLES, Fla. – Ann Clayton Fincel Moore passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2024 in Naples, Florida. Ann was born on June 2nd, 1932, in Frankfort, KY, the second of four daughters to the late Clayton Fincel and Clara Moller Fincel.

She married the love of her life, Jack Moore, after dating him throughout high school and college. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and a graduate from the University of Kentucky and remained an enthusiastic UK Basketball fan for the rest of her life.

Ann was a devoted wife and mother, raising her four daughters, while her husband traveled extensively as President of Fruit of the Loom, living in Bowling Green, KY. She was passionate about her daughters’ education, as well as raising them as well-rounded adults.

A skilled bridge player, she played duplicate bridge, attained the rank of ACBL Life Master and loved hosting her bridge club. Ann loved to entertain her circle of friends and frequently played golf or tennis with them. She was a member of the Edmund Rogers Chapter of the DAR and loved learning about her ancestors. Ann and Jack retired to Naples, FL where they enjoyed being founding members of Quail Creek Country Club.

After her husband died in 2000, she and two of her sisters traveled the world, taking major trips every year until she was in her mid-eighties. She was a devoted Catholic and no matter where she was, she managed to find a Catholic Church and attend mass every week.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Moore, of Naples, FL and one sister, Elizabeth Ross, of Greenville, S.C.

She is survived by her four daughters, Susan Moore of Montgomery, AL, Beth Schomp (Russ) of Miromar Lakes, FL, Dr. Kay Moore-Hiett (Kinney) of Dayton, Ohio and Patricia Moore, of Louisville, KY, her sister, Jeanette Greenwell of Danville, KY, her sister, Virginia Redford of Louisville, KY, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and 22 nieces and nephews.

A private funeral Mass will be held at St. William Catholic Church in Naples, FL and she will be buried with her husband in Frankfort, KY where generations of family members are buried.
