McNeill Elementary students and faculty gathered in the school’s gymnasium to honor local military veterans during the school’s annual Veterans Day Celebration ceremony on Friday, Nov. 8, 2024. The event featured a reciting of President Joe Biden’s Veterans Day proclamation, a reading of student Charlotte Holland’s winning Veterans essay and a speech by U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Steve Basham, a three-star general currently serving as Deputy Commander of U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany, a Western Kentucky University grad and the great uncle to a McNeill Elementary student.
